Spring Wedding at all Saints hotel, Bury St Edmunds

Here are 5 things I loved about shooting a wedding at the All Saints hotel

  1. The location:

Since this venue is in Bury St Edmunds, I love that it is pretty close to me, and it was very easy to find. All Saints Hotel is situated in the village of Fornham St. Genevieve located just outside Bury St Edmunds. There was lots of easy parking for you and your guests.

I didn’t actually do the ceremony, as this booking was a postponed reception from Covid, but they have a couple of options for the ceremony area. They have a beautifully lit ceremony room, an outdoor ceremony courtyard, or you can also do your ceremony at a local church and then come to the All Saints for just the reception.

2. Preparation room

It is always a toss up if the room where the wedding party is getting ready has good lighting or if it’s super dark, cramped, and tricky for photos. Not at the All Saints Hotel, their executive suite is beautiful, spacious, and full of natural light. Which is a photographer’s dream come true!

I had a lovely time capturing Sarah getting ready with her mum & sister. Her hair & makeup artist Kathryn from Doll Creative did such a beautiful job highlighting their natural beauty.

I had no issues moving around the room, capturing details, and making sure the light was just perfect while Sarah was getting ready.

3. Portrait locations

The Courtyard right outside the ceremony spot was perfect for capturing the family & group photos. With lots of greenery for the background even on a sunny day, we were able to get large groups in the photos with no issues. As an experienced photographer, one of the first things I look for when I arrive for a wedding is make sure we have a space big enough and well lit for the group photos.

The grounds on the All Saints Hotel has a lot of beautiful portrait options too. With a huge weeping willow tree, a pond & bridge, and loads of open green space, we had no problem finding places to take the couple’s portraits. The Events Team was super accommodating and drove us everywhere we wanted to go on their golf carts as well, which saved us so much time.

4. The Reception Hall is spacious & Beautiful

The reception hall has a beautiful view of the golf course with massive windows to let in a bit of light during the first part of your reception. This is a great time to grab some friends and get a few photos with them before the light goes down and we have to resort to flash photographer.

Luckily thanks to how well lit this room is, if it happened to be a rainy day, this would be a perfect spot to take your group photos without worrying about getting wet or the photos being too dark.

Hiring a photo-booth is also a really fun idea and a great way to spend time with some of your guests and get a photo with them. And there is loads of space for this in the reception hall. Bonus - this can double as your wedding favours so that you don’t have to spend extra money on items your guests might not want or use.

Their dance floor is a really fun black & white checkered pattern which opens up all kinds of options for colour schemes. They also keep the patio area nicely lit for your more introverted friends who might want a break from the noise or who don’t care for dancing.

5. All Saints Bonus features

The All Saints have a few really cool add ons that I find brilliant.

They accommodate the little ones by having a special kids menu items, as well as a Childcare option to make sure your littlest guests are cared for and your taller guests can enjoy themselves a little more freely.

You can book rooms for your guests so that they don’t have to worry about who will drive home. They can hold 10 rooms for the night before and 15 rooms for the night after your wedding to ensure your guests or family members are accommodated. They also have a fully equipped gymnasium, complete with two fitness studios and a swimming pool, & sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi for extra pampering before or after your wedding.

Or you can even take advantage of their golf course if that is something you’re interested in!

But the best part is probably the spa options! This is truly an all in one wedding venue, how lovely to book a nice spa treatment before the stress of a busy wedding day?

Overall, the Events team are really kind and helpful. I know Sarah & Conor had a great experience with them and I know I would love to work here again!
